Thrift Diving is a sweet site for ideas on turning someone else’s discarded crap into treasures you can use or resell. I met Serena at BlogHer’12 and she was full of enthusiasm, especially about adding video to her blog, so I expect Thrift Diving to continue to develop into a great resource for remodeling and thrift-store salvage.

Yeah, we all need to be realistic. But I think there’s something to be said for having a small amount of money set aside for splurges. It allows for “planned spontaneity” and keeps us from feeling too deprived even when we’re budgeting.
